HI, I’M SARA.
I am a twenty-one year old from Southern California, living and working in New York. I get attached to fictional characters too easily. I’m kind of weird and kind of a geek. I rather enjoy: graphic design, movies, television, books, writing, cameras/photography, and the internet. If you want to get fancy, I’m ISFJ. My life consists primarily of eating, finding new shows/movies to watch, and reading. Have a suggestion? Throw it my way, I’ll try to check it out. Otherwise, enjoy reading my blog!
There’s a long story behind why I decided to name my blog Almost Giant, but in essence it’s a nod to one of my favorite childhood authors, Roald Dahl. The first book I remember really reading and enjoying that wasn’t necessarily a picture book was Dahl’s The BFG. This book changed my life and is what I would consider the thing that sparked my love for reading and imagination. Although I’m not exactly the Big Friendly Giant that Dahl brought to life through his words, I aspired to be him and so I’d like to think that I’m going to get there someday. So I’m not the BFG, but I’m almost giant.
The blog in itself is really random. Akin to how I am in real life, maybe, but I’ve tried organizing the blog into categories that make a little bit of sense. Hopefully.
I credit my beginnings as a blogger to my sixth grade year in elementary school. That’s when I set up my first blog and got my hands on my first editing program. While it lasted for a few years, I dipped in an out of the blogging world for a couple years. I started blogging in earnest again on Blogspot sometime mid-March 2012, but decided shortly after that I wanted to move to WordPress. I made the switch on April 4, 2012 and haven’t looked back since, except to groan at the fact that WordPress doesn’t let you customize your layout at all without a fee.
